Eurasia Networks Group hosted an official meeting on February 6 between Gwangju Bank and Uzbekistan’s Hayot Bank to discuss the expansion of financial cooperation. The two sides also agreed to pursue the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen future collaboration.

During the meeting, representatives from Hayot Bank evaluated Korea as a country with world-class infrastructure and noted its strong technological capabilities not only in the banking sector but also in IT and fintech. They emphasized that cooperation with Gwangju Bank would serve as an important catalyst in building a Korea–Uzbekistan economic cooperation framework.

Gwangju Bank explained that matters related to trade finance, including credit issues, should be addressed gradually through practical-level discussions.

In addition, correspondent banking services, which are not currently provided, were discussed as a mid- to long-term agenda item in line with the expansion of the bank’s global network.

The two sides also reviewed various areas of cooperation, including digital financial services linked to local workers and international students in Uzbekistan, foreign exchange remittance services, and joint marketing initiatives targeting corporate clients. They agreed to gradually expand cooperation through the signing of an MOU in order to establish a mutually beneficial partnership.
