On April 20, a hanbok donation event was held for the ethnic Koreans in Uzbekistan in our conference room. The event has been prepared since December 2022, when Chairman Mr. Kim Chang Keon, and Vice Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City Ms. Lee Haeng Sook, visited the Association of Korean Cultural Centers in Uzbekistan during their official visit to Uzbekistan. They discussed the importance of hanbok in establishing identity and continuing traditions among the ethnic Koreans in Uzbekistan, and Chairman Mr. Kim Chang Keon and Vice Mayor Ms. Lee Haeng Sook started a movement to collect hanbok.
The movement to donate hanbok to the ethnic Koreans in Uzbekistan was led by Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Council of Women, and Incheon Saemaul Women's Association, and was sponsored by Eurasia Networks Group and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Seoul. Currently, about 2,000 hanboks have been prepared and will be delivered sequentially from April to the Association of Korean Cultural Centers in Uzbekistan and major universities in Uzbekistan where Korean language departments have been established.
The event was attended and congratulated by Mr. Kim Chang Keon, Chairman of Eurasia Networks Group, Ms. Lee Haeng Sook, Vice Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, Mr. Zokir Saidov, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Seoul, Ms. Choi Dong Rye, President of Incheon Council of Women, Ms. Lee Jung Ja, President of Incheon Saemaul Women's Association, and about 30 others.
