On January 15, Chairman Kim Chang Keon held a New Year meeting with Ambassador Kirom, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the
Republic of Korea, at the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of topics related to investment and market entry in Tajikistan, including the mining industry, energy and manufacturing
sectors, and people-to-people exchanges. In particular, they had in-depth discussions on gold, silver, and rare mineral mining. Through these discussions, they agreed to designate 2026 as the
starting year for the full-scale expansion of Korean companies into Tajikistan and to continue close consultations moving forward.
In addition, they exchanged concrete cooperation plans for expanding sister-city partnerships and people-to-people exchanges between local governments in Korea and Tajikistan, with a special
focus on the dispatch of international students and workers. They also agreed to work toward achieving tangible outcomes in the first half of 2026.
